The RevZilla's $20K Bike Giveaway is currently in Week 4 of a six-week promotion. RevZilla
is an online retailer that specializes in motorcycle parts, accessories
and gear including helmets, apparel, tires and more. They have quite a
loyal customer base and over 84K fans on their Facebook page along with now a weekly video show that they broadcast on their SpreeCast channel.
To celebrate this Holiday season they wanted to really engage with
their customers and give them chances to win many prizes. The grand
prize is a Bike that will be awarded to one lucky winner just in time
for Christmas. They initially contacted me back in October and we
started working through the details in order to make this happen. What
they wanted to do was give away weekly prizes leading up to the grand
prize of the bike. The weekly prizes would be determined by the spin of a
wheel that would be broadcast live each Friday afternoon during the
order to be eligible for the weekly drawing a participant needs to
first register and then complete that week's challenge. Week 1 was
completing a profile. Week 2 was sharing a photo on Facebook of the participant on their bike (over 4,000 photos were posted). Week 3 was to subscribe to the RevZillaTV YouTube channel, comment on one of RevZilla's gear reviews and then post that video.
The current challenge for Week 4 is a little more difficult. They
must post a link to a ride report that chronicles a ride that is either
theirs or one they read and liked. The challenge for each upcoming week
is announced during the Live Spreecast and then posted on the RevZilla website each Friday after the weekly broadcast.
Each weekly challenge that a participants completes gives them
another entry into the grand prize drawing for the Bike. The more
challenges a person completes, the more chances to win. It allows
participants that may have just found out about the promotion this week
the opportunity to complete the past challenges in order to gain entries
into the Grand Prize drawing. However, of course they are not eligible
for the past weekly drawings.
Anthony from RevZilla is the host of the weekly Live TV Broadcast.
Here's a video of Anthony providing instructions on how to participate:
The challenge I had with this promotion was the fact that they did
not want to reveal at the start what each of the weekly challenges would
be. So I had to assume that each weekly challenge would not take
someone longer than 20 minutes to complete, which is the border line for
what may or may not constitute consideration for entry.
The other challenge was awarding a prize live and not knowing what each
weekly prize would be. During the live broadcast Anthony and the
"RevZilla Rent-a-Cop" spin the wheel to determine what that week's
winner will receive. We had to assume the highest prize for each week
when calculating the value of the total prize pool in order to bond and
register this sweepstakes.
most of you reading this post would assume that the majority of
participants and RevZilla customers are males. Yes, you are correct.
However, there definitely is a core and loyal female audience as well.
The photo to the left shows one of the female participants who shared a
photo of her and her bike. The weekly TV shows allow fans to join the
live chat and Anthony takes a few live calls. This past week we had
Naomi on the air who got a t-shirt.
I will be involved in the grand prize drawing and choose three
finalists who I will then contact and notify. They will need to be
present for the final spin of the wheel that's scheduled to take place
on December 21. Their names will be added to the wheel and whatever name
the wheel lands on will be the grand prize winner. The winner has their
choice of one of these three bikes: 2013 BMW R1200GS (ARV $18,350),
2012 KTM RC8R (ARV $16,499) or 2012 Harley-Davidson Street Glide (ARV
that will be a nice Christmas present for one very lucky person. The other two finalists will each receive a $500 gift card.
This was my first experience with SpreeCast
and I'm pretty impressed with what you can do with it. The team at
RevZilla have certainly learned how to engage with their key customers
utilizing their live broadcasts. Each broadcast is recorded and can be
viewed at any time by visiting their channel. SpreeCast has created this
How To Video
that provides instructions for creating your own SpreeCast. You can
also view other SpreeCast videos and see what's trending. So I think
this is another great new tool for marketers and bloggers to check out
and one I'm sure we'll be seeing more of.
