The New York Jets released the Ultimate Fan Game which is the first social sports game from an NFL team in the social network. It is designed to generate revenue through virtual goods and product placement sponsorships. Jet fans have the ability to purchase virtual tailgate items, and team gifts through the Ultimate Fan experience.
The New York Jets have the honors of playing in the first Monday Night Football game of the NFL's 2010 season against the Baltimore Ravens. The Jets are the 3-point favorites for tonight's game which will also be the debut of their brand new Meadowlands Stadium. They have entertainment scheduled with a pre-game concert in the plaza section of the stadium and a half-time show with Green Day and the Broadway cast of American Idiot. With all this hoopla let's hope they play a good game tonight since both teams have already been predicted to win their division.
Getting back to the Ultimate Fan Game, it was spearheaded by the Jets and developed in conjunction with game developer Arkadium. It is not a football simulator or a fantasy league game. At its core, Ultimate Fan lets fans be fans by doing online what they would normally do at home and in stadiums. From rooting for their favorite team to predicting game scores to holding a virtual tailgate with fans all over the country, there is a component of the game for everyone, no matter which team people are cheering on.
“The Jets have embraced digital marketing on a number of levels," said Matt Higgins, the Jets' executive vice president of business operations. "We've tweeted our draft picks as they were officially announced at Radio City and created a viral video-based sweepstakes in which one fan got the chance to lead the team out of the tunnel at a game last season. This application is yet another aggressive move into building out the digital side of our brand."
Ultimate Fan is being promoted through Facebook, media buys, emails, fan pages, as well as in the stadium, on radio, television, and direct mail. So check it out. I haven't played any social games yet, but this one looks like a lot of fun.
So now that the new season is underway all of us fans, except for those of the Jets and the Ravens, have either a 1 or a 0 in the win column. Being from Rochester, NY, I unfortunately am a Buffalo Bills fan and we now have a Big Fat Zero in their "W" column. Not only did they lose, but they left their offense in the locker room. At least I didn't have to watch the game since I was traveling back from the BlogPaws West conference yesterday that was in Denver. I did see the highlights on the news though when I got home.
It's going to be a long season, but hey I still love the sport!

This is cool! I'm gonna share this one to my friends surely we could have an exciting weekend. Thanks for the post.
