I arrived in lucky Las Vegas yesterday for the 3rd Annual Interactive Promotion Summit being held this year at Caesar's Palace. It’s been over a year since I’ve been to Vegas. Last time was for the annual PPAI Expo that’s held annually right after the first of the year at Mandalay Bay. So, it’s a bit warmer this time of year. In fact Vegas is having unseasonably high temperatures for this time of it – it was 98 yesterday. Good day for the pool!
Last night there was a welcome reception that I attended that was sponsored by Conde Nast Publications. I read on the plane over here almost cover to cover their recent issue of Vanity Fair – their second annual Green Issue. Very thought provoking. So, I chose the Allure goodie bag to take home. Much lighter reading!
The reception was a very well attended. It’s hard to say how many people were there since many were coming and going, but I would say around 300. They’re expecting about 400 people to attend the event, brand marketers, agencies, media and suppliers. Being a single person, I was able meet some new people since we all seemed to be in the networking mood and I look forward to meeting more over the next couple of days.
You can read my past post on this event to review the list of speakers and some of the topics. As I had mentioned, I’m very interested to hear the new research that PROMO Magazine will be revealing on the industry, but I’ll have to wait till tomorrow for that. I have a feeling it will be very positive for the future of interactive promotions. Today at lunch we’ll see what promotions will receive an Interactive Marketing Award that PROMO Magazine is also sponsoring.
This is my first time attending this event, but the third year of it’s existence. The lead sponsor and founder of the event is ePrize who has about 50-60 of their own people here. Joshua Linkner, the CEO of ePrize says in his welcome letter “Let’s enjoy, learn and make history together”. He also references the famous Las Vegas marketing line “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas” and he goes on to say “While that may be true on the Strip, what you learn here at the Summit will not only follow you home, but will influence future marketing plans for your brand and industry”.
So, I’m going to do my part with this blog to share the experience with those who could not attend as well as follow the participates home that I invited to visit my blog. I welcome everyone to continue the conversation here and to participants, please share with us what you’re top take home of the event ends up being.

sounds like a great time - the speaker list esp. sounded phenomenal, would love to hear more about Jane McGonigal and games like "World Without Oil".
